There has been some talk for a while now about future of this forum. There is a lot of useful information that is buried away in this forum, some of which is constantly being re-asked by newer members.
Since Dale has abandoned the main exposure.co.uk website, there has been a lack of direction for the forum (and spin-off projects ie. exposure shorts, 'helpless', etc)
Although we have seen a lot of progress over the past few years with our members, including the projects mentioned above, everything produced is locked into this forum.
What I am suggesting is this...
We develop a new community website/forum intended to increase exposure to ourselves and our work, as well as having a central hub of filmmaking information (articles/guides/tutorials) - along with a thriving forum [img]wink.gif[/img]
I have no intention of changing the way this forum is ran (or moderated), or have a problem with the content that is being posted - very far from it... Ideally I would like to see our forum community to be taken to the next level! Where fellow filmmakers can share ideas/techniques/know-how with each other more readily.
The structure of the 'new' website would be as follows:

</font><ul type="square">[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">News (from filmmaking-related, or member's blogs/films/events)</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Articles/Reviews</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Guides (hints/tips/experiences in filmmaking)</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Tutorials (specific how-to's)</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Jobshop (ie. to find cast/crew)</font>[/list]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Forum:</font><ul type="square">[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Maintain the current structure/format</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Facility to link every article/guide/tutorial into a topic</font>[/list]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Each user will be able to access the facilities to contribute to every aspect of the site... meaning this will be a community site - not 'my' site.
The information stored on the site/forum will be organised in such a way that it will be intuitive to use and searchable.
The down-shot of all of this is that in order for these ideas to succeed we will have to relocate the forum to a new location... this would mean having to register with the new site, but it would be 'our' site.
Please don't think of this as a coup d'etat, because it isn't... I just feel that this is an opportunity to give filmmakers (from all levels) more freedom to learn and develop.
I'm open to all suggestions about this idea, either email me... or reply here.
I am all for yoru ideas...
However, I have no intention of starting a website to serve as a hub of a community when there are already a shit load out there.
If you want to pick up where the mythic Dale left off anf link to this board I am all for it. I am also all for improving what is here in any way.

Can't you just make a new website and then link to this forum from there? This is a hostboard messageboard, with exposure.co.uk in the title. You could just make an exposure2 or something and still keep this forum, could you not?
Or...We can change the name of the board.
Why don't you ask Dale for the Domain?? Or do another TLD??

The site is currently in <u>beta stage</u> - this means that its probably riddled with bugs and what not - but it should give you all an idea what we've trying to achieve here.
I know that a lot of you will be thinking why? What's the point of this? - again, if you guys want to stay using this board, thats fine - We are just trying to take this forum a step-up, by making it easier for independent filmmakers to get informations, establish contacts and other like-minded people.

I like it! But why not keep it as it is and instead of starting a new forum there just have the link click through to here. After all, we get lots of new people here that find us through HostBoard. Not to belittle the site because I like it but it's a lot easier to find this forum through HostBoard than it would be through another site. At least for a while anyway.
